VHS Boys Soccer Claims State Championship

The Vashon High School boys soccer team captured the WIAA 1A State Championship for the second time in school history with a commanding 3–0 victory over Meridian High School on Saturday, May 30, at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.
Entering the state tournament as the No. 2 seed, the Pirates carried an impressive 15-1-3 regular-season record and proved throughout the postseason that they were among the state's elite teams. Vashon dominated its path to the championship, outscoring opponents 18-1 across four tournament matches while showcasing the balanced attack, disciplined defense, and teamwork that defined its season.
The Pirates set the tone early in the title match, applying pressure from the opening whistle and scoring twice in the first half to seize momentum. Holding a two-goal advantage, Vashon controlled possession throughout much of the second half, limiting Meridian's opportunities while continuing to create chances of its own. The Pirates added a third goal in the second half to put the championship beyond doubt and cap off a memorable performance on the state's biggest stage.
With the victory, Vashon secured its second boys soccer state championship, adding the 2026 title to the program's first state crown won in 2019. Congratulations Pirates!
